February Newsletter

What We Have Been Working On In February:
· Language Arts/Reading: We have been working on    syllables and writing this month.  Kids are really starting to read and not just the sight words!  It is very exciting for all of us!
· Math:  Our main focus has been measuring using our feet and standard feet.  We’ve also worked on exchanging ones for fives and tens. (Ex: 10 ones—exchange for a ten)
· Science: We learned about Groundhog’s Day and made predictions.  Students also have learned a lot about the different kinds of weather this month.
· Writing:  Students have been working hard on using a finger space between each word in a sentence, using only an uppercase letter at the beginning of a sentence, and some form of punctuation at the end of the sentence.  I am so proud of their progress!

Important Dates:
March 13 & 15:  Parent/Teacher Conferences (Early Out at 1:oo)
March 16-25:  No School--Spring Break

What to work on at home:
· Please continue to work on tying shoes at home.  I still have a lot of kids who don’t know how to tie their shoes!
· Please challenge your child to work on number stories.  Include the words (have your child sound them out) and the number model (1+4=5).  They can do addition or subtraction! :)
· Please work on writing at home.  You can work on simple 3-letter words or sentences.

Please feel free to contact me at any time!

Valentine's Party

We had such a fun time at our Valentine's Party! This year, we got to celebrate on the actual date! Jenna and Matt Weber and Marilyn Gelinas were the head honchos of our party. They made sure all of the students were well fed, had fun, and most of all spoiled. :) Thanks to all of you who helped make our party a success! These are the memories the kiddos will never forget.

Teamwork Assembly

Three times a year, TJ has an awards assembly focusing on some aspect of character building.  In February, the focus was teamwork.  Riley and Hailey had the chance to work together to play the Hula Hoop Race.  Delaney and Blake had the chance to play the Waiter Game.  I snapped a few photos but when I was going to edit them, the quality was not the greatest. I am sorry to Blake for not catching a good enough shot of you!  Hope you enjoy the photos!
