January Newsletter

I am SO sorry this is so late!  Turns out life can get busy...who knew? :)

What We Have Been Working On In January:
Language Arts: We have been working on blending and segmenting. We have also been working on sounding out simple words and nonsense words.

Math: We are starting to do simple addition problems! Students also have worked a lot on number stories (word problems).

Science: We just started to study penguins. The kids have really enjoyed what we’ve learned so far!

Handwriting Without Tears: Students have learned all the uppercase and some of the lowercase letters. We have practiced writing sentences and talked about what to include (capitalization, finger spaces, punctuation, etc.)

For our Valentine’s Day Party we need milk jugs to use as our Valentine holders. If you could please wash out and bring in any milk jugs, I would appreciate it!

Please contact Jenna or Matt Weber at jweber@gmrc.com if you are willing to provide for our party. Here is what we need: 20 plates,20 napkins, 20 cups, 20 treats, and something for the kids to drink.

Book Orders: due February 10th. Online code: GT8GF

Important Dates:
February 14th–Valentine’s Day Party

February 17th– No School

February 20th– No School (Possible Snow Make Up Day)

Things to work on at home:

Please continue to work on sight words at home.

Please work on fine motor skills, especially writing.

Also can you please work on tying shoes at home? I still have a lot of kids who don’t know how to tie their shoes!

Feel free to contact me any time with questions, concerns, or comments!  Have a great weekend!
